Construction Institute to hold prefab seminar

Hartford industry education provider Construction Institute will hold a program on modular prefabricated construction at 8:30 a.m. May 16 at the Holiday Inn in North Haven.

Prefabrication is a centuries old method of construction where the main components of a building are constructed offsite and transported to the job location. The method has picked up new recognition in the last five years as property owners and construction managers seek to lower costs and increase efficiencies.

The Construction Institute event will discuss the new technologies and approaches to modular construction and how owners, contractors, designers and subcontractors can benefit from the method.

The speakers at the program include Alberto Franceschet, engineering manager for Permasteelisa North America; John Erb, vice president at Deluxe Building Systems; and Ian Peter Atkins, architectural coordinator for Strata Studio.
