With the opening of its temporary Farmington research facility only weeks away, The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine has filled its first two administrative slots.
Senior Human Resources Manager Carol O'Brien, of Stonington's Mystic section, will run HR functions at the temp 9,700-square-foot space in an administrative building on the UConn Health Center campus.
At least 21 employees will be housed there by yearend, officials said. Ground breaks in January for a 173,000-square-foot permanent facility on 17 acres of the Farmington campus.
O'Brien brings 15 years of human resources experience, most recently as director of corporate human resources for Schneider Electric in West Kingston, R.I.
From 2001 to 2008, O'Brien was employed by Pfizer Global Research & Development in Groton. She is a graduate of King's College in Charlotte, N.C., and holds a certificate in organizational development from Columbia University.
Also, Senior Financial Analyst Mary Moquin will be responsible for developing and reviewing financial systems for JAX Genomic Medicine.
The Wallingford resident comes from Accu-Time Systems in Ellington, where she was a senior plant accountant and manager.
Moquin also worked for Pratt & Whitney Co. in East Hartford, Cytec Industries in Wallingford and Connecticut Container in North Haven.
She earned her undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Bridgeport, and a master's in business administration from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.
