Norwalk's HEI receives Energy Star award

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency honored Norwalk hotel investment group HEI Hotels & Resorts with an Energy Star sustained excellence award in Washington, D.C., acknowledging their continued leadership in energy efficiency.

HEI has been an Energy Star partner since 2006, and focuses on lighting upgrades and HVAC systems, as well as operational programs such as its custom dashboard, Energy Looking Glass. HEI has saved 20.2 percent on energy costs since 2005.

The sustained excellence awards honor winners selected from 20,000 organizations annually who exhibit outstanding leadership year after year.

Over the past 20 years, Energy Star programs helped families and businesses save nearly $230 billion on utility bills, and prevented greenhouse gas emissions equal to those from over 350 million vehicles.
