Marcum opens practice dedicated to LGBT clients

U.S. tax and accounting adviser Marcum LLP, with Connecticut operations, has set up a practice group focused solely on business formation, individual and estate planning and other services to the nation's lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender community.

Marcum said Friday the broadly underserved market also must cope with the changing landscape of tax and financial laws and regulations.

Marcum said its interdisciplinary group consists of professionals with more than 20 years of experience dealing with the tax and financial rules faced by LGBT couples and families in Connecticut and nationally.

"Whether they are married, single, domestic partners or divorced, LGBT and non-traditional families deal with tax and financial issues that are byzantine, at best," said Nanette Lee Miller, the group's national leader and partner-in-charge of Assurance Services for Marcum's California offices.
