CT opens enrollment for fall tech program

The state's technology investment arm is accepting applications for the next class of tech start-ups for its accelerator program.

Connecticut Innovations Inc. in Rocky Hill is now accepting applications from entrepreneurial teams for the fall TechStart Accelerator Program, beginning Sept. 17 in New Haven.

Application deadline is Aug. 15.

The first accelerator program took place in the spring, with more than 80 applicants competing for the eventual nine spots.

Funding for the $1 million TechStart initiative was provided to CI through the state's jobs initiative, passed last fall. The fund, created to spur technology innovation, will provide entrepreneurial teams with initial capital of up to $25,000 to accelerate the launch of their technology businesses.

During the three-month program, teams will be provided with mentors to assist with various aspects of their business, learn about capital sources, prepare an investor pitch, have access to pro bono professional service providers, and interact with other entrepreneurs and guest speakers.
