Hartford and Southington fire departments are getting $4.1 million in federal emergency response grants to add firefighters and equipment, authorities say.
Hartford is getting $3.4 million and Southington $720,556 through U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response Grants (SAFER) program.
Senators Joseph I. Lieberman, Richard Blumenthal and First District Congressman John B. Larson announced the grants Friday.
