Canterbury receives $265K STEAP grant

The Town of Canterbury received a $265,000 Small Town Economic Assistance Program grant from the state government to improve a park and a school.

Canterbury will use the money to upgrade the softball field, soccer field, tennis courts and basketball courts at Dr. Helen Baldwin Middle School. In Manship Park, the town will install an ice rink, volleyball court, security lights and fencing along Quinnibaug River along with upgrades to the baseball field, track and soccer field.

The State Bond Commission allocated $20 million for STEAP grants in September, awarded to Connecticut small towns with ready projects and an impact on regional economic development.
