Greater Hartford gasoline prices rose in July for the first time since April

Greater Hartford gasoline prices rose this week for the first time since April, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

The price per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline hit $3.633 on Wednesday, up from $3.594 from a week ago. Prices remain down 10 cents from a month ago and 30 cents from a year ago.

Gasoline prices starting rising in January before topping off above $4.10 per gallon of regular unleaded in April. Prices declined steadily since – bottoming out at below $3.60 last week – before they started climbing in July.

Prices fell earlier this year because the cost of a barrel of oil decreased due to the struggling worldwide economy. This week's increase in Greater Hartford came as the price of a barrel of oil increase for two consecutive weeks, nearing $85 per barrel on Wednesday.
