CONNSTEP getting $1M to promote CT mfg.

CONNSTEP Inc., the Rocky Hill nonprofit that promotes competitiveness and hiring among the state's small and midsize manufacturers, is getting more than $1 million in federal financial support, authorities say.

The U.S. Commerce Department will fund $1,027,489 over the next year to CONNSTEP, Connecticut's congressional leaders said.

The agency's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) awarded the funds through its Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership, a national network helping manufacturers to identify growth opportunities, create new products and reach new customers.
