Two overseas air carriers are contracting with Hamilton Sundstrand Corp. of Windsor Locks to do maintenance of the auxiliary power units onboard their airliners.
Turkey's Onur Air chose Hamilton to care for the auxiliary power systems (APS) units aboard its nine Airbus 320 airliners, plus equip two more planes with APS units, Hamilton said Monday.
Hamilton will do the same for Oman Air's five Embraer 175 series aircraft, authorities said.
Financial terms for neither were disclosed.
Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems in San Diego, Calif., which has more than 13,000 APUs in commercial and military service, will oversee the work.
APS units are essentially small, jet-turbine generators that power cabin lighting, heating/cooling and other electrical systems while the plane is on the tarmac.
Hamilton is a unit of United Technologies Corp. in Hartford.
