A group of physicians in the southwestern corner of the state have formed a new doctor's organization with St. Vincent's Medical Center.
The new physician hospital organization, called St. Vincent's Health Partners (SVHP), is an independent entity that has a 50/50 ownership split between the physicians and hospital.
The PHO will allow the doctors and hospital to jointly negotiate contracts with health insurance companies and work to better coordinate care and share patient data, with the goal of reducing health care costs and improving the quality of care, said Thomas Raskauskas who is the newly named chief executive officer of SVHP.
Raskauskas said SVHP's goal is to allow participating primary care and specialist physicians to perform well under new reimbursement models that will reward clinical integration and improved quality of care.
The group already has 151 physicians and is preparing this fall to negotiate provider contracts with insurance companies, Raskauskas said.
