CREC academy set for Griffin's Bloomfield park

Future home of Capitol Region Education Council's pre-K to grade 5 magnet school at 206 West Newberry Road in Bloomfield.

The Capitol Region Education Council is fully leasing a Bloomfield commercial building for its new pre-K to grade 5 magnet school.

New York landlord Griffin Land & Nurseries Inc. owns the 22,886-square-foot building at 206 West Newberry Road that will house CREC's Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Elementary School.

Construction of the tenant improvements, including an outdoor playground, is underway to open for the new school year this fall.

Griffin declined to specify lease duration and costs Wednesday.

The office/flex building located within Griffin Center business park was built in 1988 and until recently was home to New England Typographic Services. The firm relocated to a Griffin building next door at 204 West Newberry.

Jones Lang LaSalle represented CREC in the lease transaction. Cushman & Wakefield represented Griffin.
