CT's NanoViricides declares anti-flu test 'coup'

West Haven drug developer NanoViricides Inc. says its oral flu vaccine has shown to be effective in test animals, a key threshold that leads to human trials.

Its trademark FluCide oral vaccine was lab tested by KARD Scientific Inc., NanoViricides said.

The company says it awaits data from the studies and intends to release additional information as the data are analyzed and studied.

"Molecules that nanomedicines are comprised of are notoriously difficult to develop into orally available drugs,'' said President Anil R. Diwan. "This is indeed a coup for our nanomedicine technologies.''
