Farmington advertising-marketing agency Primacy is the new name for former Acsys Interactive, which also has moved to larger eco-friendly quarters in town and plans to hire five more staffers by year end.
Primacy says the new name reflects its focus on "digital first" as an interactive agency. The old name stood for "accounting systems," tagging its beginnings by founder Stan Valencis in a Bristol garage in 1994.
The firm employs 80, and recently doubled its office footprint moving to the "Ecos Center'' building at 1577 New Britain Ave. from 6 Executive Drive. The new headquarters has been retrofitted to the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, or LEED, standards.
Primacy officials said they will fill five additional positions in the second half of this year, including an art director, creative designer, account director, information architect and technology developer.
The company said it has hired 50 employees in the past two years, more than doubling its headcount.
Recently, it hired Vice President of Technology Melissa Tait, Senior Copywriter Kevin Middendorf and Marketing and Communications Manager Greg Bradley.
