International toymaker Lego said Friday its net profit rose to $336 million for the first half of 2012, up almost a third from the 2011 period. The company's U.S. headquarters is in Enfield; its world headquarters is in Denmark.
The family-owned company said sales rose 24 percent during the six-month period, fueled in part by its new line of toys aimed at girls. Sales of the Lego Friends line doubled expectations.
The company said it had hired about 1,000 new employees worldwide to meet production demands.
