Aviation Week names Hamilton top place to work

CORRECTION: UTC Aerospace Systems employs 40,000. A previous version of this article incorrectly stated 27,000, as that is the number of employees added since the Goodrich acquisition.

Windsor Locks manufacturer Hamilton Sundstrand was named in Aviation Week's 2012 Workforce Study as a "Company where Aerospace and Defense Professionals Want to work."

Hamilton, one of 34 organizations that participated in the magazine's study, was selected as a top company in two of three categories – "Respect for the Individual" and "Learning/Professional Development." The third categories is "Technological Challenge" and were marked as the three key areas employees said they use to make career decisions.

The Windsor Locks business is no longer its own entity as it is now a part of UTC Aerospace Systems based out of North Carolina, which formed after parent company United Technologies Corp. of Hartford acquired Charlotte aerospace component manufacturer Goodrich.

UTC Aerospace Systems employs 40,000.
