The IKEA store in New Haven will throw the switch later Thursday on a new solar energy system, said to be the largest in Connecticut.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is scheduled to join IKEA executives and other dignitaries at 2 p.m. at 450 Sargent Drive, off I-95, for the power-on ceremony.
The rooftop system is 118,000 square feet and consists of 3,920 panels that officials say will reduce carbon dioxide by 836 tons, the equivalent of powering 95 homes for a year.
