Connecticut's Mohegan Tribe has replaced the chief executive of its flagship Montville casino amid the layoff of more than 300 employees, The Associated Press reports.
Jeffrey Hartmann, CEO of the Mohegan Sun resort casino in the Uncasville section of town, has left the property.
Bobby Soper, the CEO of the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs property in Pennsylvania, will take over leadership of the Connecticut casino, according to Mitchell Grossinger Etess, CEO of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, which operates the casinos.
Etess did not comment further on Hartmann's departure.
Etess said 282 employees were laid off immediately and another 46 will be let go by the end of October as the casino closes its Birches restaurant.
Mohegan Sun in Uncasville and Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket have experienced significant revenue declines since their highs in the early 2000s as more regional casinos have come online.
