CT’s Webster, Sound Tigers score sports linkup

Three months after signing a marketing partnership with UConn basketball, Webster Bank has scored a second sports sponsorship –- this one with The Bridgeport Sound Tigers hockey team that plays in an arena named for the Waterbury lender.

Webster and the team announced Friday their deal officially starts Saturday at Webster Bank Arena with a home game to the minor-league team's 2012-13 season.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

As part of their pact, Webster will be the primary sponsor for the Sound Tigers "Zamboni Rider of the Game" promotion during all 38 home games this season at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.

The partnership also includes branding rights on the players' helmets at both home and away games as well as a ticket giveaway for four seats at each home game in the "Attack Zone," Sound Tigers President Howard Saffan said.

In July, UConn and Webster Bank signed a major sponsorship deal that will help the school fund its planned basketball practice facility.
