Guilford protective equipment wholesaler The Safety Zone plans to install a 345 kilowatt solar array at its headquarters.

The Safety Zone picked Branford-based Pat Munger Construction Co. to install the more than 1,200 solar panels on its roof in an effort to limit the amount of electricity the wholesaler uses from the power grid.

Boston-based Independence Solar is providing the solar panels.

The project will be funded in part through clean energy incentives from Berlin electric utility Connecticut Light & Power. The total cost of the project was not disclosed.
