Connecticut's governor has temporarily waived the state rule banning anyone but the owner of a propane fuel tank to refuel it, authorities say.
Dannel P. Malloy's office said Friday he signed an executive order which will allow for the next 30 days any propane supplier to respond to a request to fill a propane tank irrespective of whether they are the owner of the tank.
This is meant to help those who lease their propane tank from their supplier, because under normal conditions, only the owner of the propane tank may respond to these requests.
"Right now, people who heat their homes or cook with propane need the flexibility to get their tanks filled – it's that simple," Malloy said. "With temperatures dropping, we absolutely must provide residents who use propane with a way to meet their fuel needs."
