Travelers Championship donates $1.15M

The Travelers Championship in Cromwell in June raised $1.15 million for more than 100 charities in the region, the tournament announced on Tuesday.
The Travelers Championship PGA tournament announced on Tuesday the 2012 event generated $1.15 million for more than 100 charities around the region, the highest since the insurer took over title sponsorship in 2007.

Each year, the tournament, held annually in June in Cromwell, donates 100 percent of its net proceeds to charity. Last year, the event gave $1.1 million to more than 100 charities. Since its inception in 1952, the tournament has given more than $30 million.

Recipients of this year's $1.15 million include The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, Achieve Hartford!, the Connecticut Food Bank in East Haven, and the Southington Northern Little League.

The 2013 Travelers Championship will be June 17-23 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.
