CT labor cops order 25 firms to ‘stop work’

Connecticut's labor agency says that in recent months it ordered 25 contractors to shut down until the firms document compliance with workplace safety rules.

The Connecticut Department of Labor's Division of Wage and Workplace Standards said it issued the "stop work'' orders during the period of Oct. 24 to Jan. 8.

The orders also carry a $300 civil penalty for each day the company does not carry workers' compensation coverage as required by law.

Stop work orders were issued on the following:

Oct. 25: 613 Upper Maple St. in the Danielson section of Killingly:
