Caleb Hitchcock Health Center at Duncaster Retirement Community in Bloomfield has been recognized as one of the country's best skilled nursing centers by the American College of Health Care Administrators.
The organization awarded Caleb Hitchcock its Facility Leadership Award. The award recognizes leadership excellence among nursing home providers. Less than seven percent of all skilled nursing centers in the country receive this honor.
Duncaster's Caleb Hitchcock Health Center sits on the community's 87-acre campus. It has 60 private Medicare certified skilled nursing accommodations for those who need both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation as well as a memory support neighborhood.
Six new board members were elected to YWCA Hartford Region's Board of Directors during YWCA's 145th annual meeting recently:
• Lisa Chirichella, chief investment officer's chief of staff of Aetna Inc.;
• Janice Harris, principal of Haddam Elementary School;
• Eva Kohn, senior vice president, strategic accounts for Valassis, Inc.;
• Maria E. Kokiasmenos, counsel at The Hartford Financial Services Group;
• Kelly Pittman, transfer counselor at Tunxis Community College;
• And Marisol Rios, senior vice president of the global infrastructure team at Bank of America.
In addition, the YWCA region presented its corporate partner award to the Bank of America and its community partner award to The Fund for Greater Hartford.
Established in 1867, YWCA Hartford Region is the third oldest affiliate of YWCA.
The Pita Group has been honored with four awards in the international AVA Digital Awards competition, which recognizes achievement in the concept, direction, design and production of digital communication.
The Rocky Hill-based marketing agency won platinum awards for its campaign for Union Savings Bank and for its mobile-friendly holiday game, "Ornamental."
The Pita Group also won gold awards for "The Smart View" webisode series created for MassMutual's Retirement Services Division, and for "Non-Stop Connecticut," the travel video series it created for Connecticut's Central Regional Tourism District.
The AVA Digital Awards program is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Connecticut presented Tighe & Bond with its Engineering Excellence Award for a multi-million-dollar upgrade at the Putnam Water Filtration Plant in Greenwich.
As part of a capital improvement plan, Aquarion Water Co. of Connecticut invested in treatment plant upgrades to replace aging structures, and improve service reliability, water quality, and public health and safety. Tighe & Bond provided engineering services for the design, permitting and construction of the new clearwell and filter backwash pumping system, as well as the associated piping improvements.
Tighe & Bond has Connecticut offices in Middletown and Shelton. Presentation of the award took place at the council's awards gala at the Hartford Club.
