July slot revenue up at Mohegan Sun, down at Foxwoods

Mohegan Sun's slot revenues climbed more than 8 percent in July, while competitor Foxwoods Resort Casino's revenues declined, according to newly released data from the tribal casino operators.

During the month, Mohegan Sun posted $55.8 million in slot revenues, up nearly 8.4 percent compared to $51.6 million in the year-ago period, owner Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment said. The amount slot bettors wagered in July, known as the "handle," was $667.1 million, up from $632.2 million a year ago.

Foxwoods Resort Casino reported slot revenue of $42.6 million, a drop of 3.5 percent compared to $44.2 million in July 2016. Handle for the month was $572.5 million, up 1.6 percent from the $563.3 million wagered in the same month in 2016.
