Connecticut's homebuilding pace rebounded in April from the month and year earlier, a new survey shows.

There were 263 permits issued last month to erect single- and multi-family dwellings, up from 208 granted by the 104 cities and towns surveyed monthly by the U.S. Census Bureau, which relays its data to the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).

In March, the permit total slipped from the same month a year ago, DECD said, citing the census survey.

Through the first four months of 2018, housing permits running well ahead of the same period last year, with 1,297 issued so far this year vs. 981 a year ago.
