Hartford and its suburbs sold more houses for more money in July than a year ago -- the first sales climb in four months, new Realtor data shows.

There were 1,306 single-family dwellings sold last month, a 2.5 percent rise from the 1,274 sold in July 2017, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors (GHAR) said Thursday.

Median price for the most recent sales jumped 7.1 percent last month to $249,580 vs. $232,950 a year ago.

"This is the first uptick in home sales we've seen since April," said GHAR CEO Holly Callanan.

In the region's condominium category, there sales were essentially flat in July, with 256 closings -- one less than sold the same month last year, GHAR said.

But their median sale price rose 2.6 percent to $157,950 vs. $154,000 in July 2017, Realtors said.
