College football fans traveling at the end of the month to Tempe, Ariz. for the Fiesta Bowl - pitting the UConn Huskies vs. the Oklahoma Sooners - will spend an average of $718 on travel per person, making it the one of the most expensive bowls to travel to, according to Priceline.com.
A hotel and airline booking Web site, Priceline is running specials offering airline ticket and hotel combination packages to the various football bowl games in December and January. UConn is traveling to the Fiesta Bowl for the first time, also the first time in the school's history it qualified for a Bowl Championship Series game, as a result of winning the Big East.
The most expensive bowl will be $904 for Stanford Cardinal fans to fly to Miami to take on Virginia Tech Hokies in the Orange Bowl. Other expensive bowls include the Rose Bowl in California (Texas Christian Horned Frogs vs. Wisconsin Badgers) for $847 per person; the Sun Bowl in Texas (Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Miami Hurricanes) for $858; and the Outback Bowl in Florida (Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Florida Gators) for $781.
The national average for all the bowl games will be $583 per person.
The price includes roundtrip airfare and a three-night hotel stay. It does not include non-travel related expenses such as game tickets, food and souvenirs.
