Engineer Tighe & Bond acquires N.H. firm

Massachusetts civil and environmental engineer Tighe & Bond, with offices in Middletown and Shelton, is penetrating deeper into New England through a merger with Appledore Engineering of Portsmouth, N.H.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Appledore will keep its Portsmouth location and operate as a division of Tighe & Bond.

Tighe & Bond, based in Westfield, Mass., was founded in 1911 and has nearly 200 professionals who, aside from conducting engineering services for municipal and institutional clients, provide water, wastewater and solid waste management, parking consulting, and brownfields remediation. Northeast Utilities, the Metropolitan District Commission and the town of Manchester are among its major clients.

Appledore, started 23 years ago, conducts site design, planning, permitting and construction administration services.
