A mega-rich Fairfield couple has joined billionaires Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates in pledging to leave their estates to philanthropy.
Billionaire hedge fund operator Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates Inc., and wife, Barbara, joined nine other families that have taken the Giving Pledge, the organization said Thursday.
Forbes magazine in 2010 estimated the Dalio's fortune at around $5 billion.
The other new signatories are: Joyce and Bill Cummings, Ray and Barbara Dalio, John Paul DeJoria, Phillip and Patricia Frost, Harold and Sue Ann Hamm, Vinod and Neeru Khosla, Rich and Nancy Kinder, Edward W. and Deedie Potter Rose, Lynn Schusterman, and Annette and Harold Simmons.
So far, 69 families have taken the pledge, the group said.
