Energy efficiency challenge raises $400

The charity challenge by Wallingford efficiency firm Competitive Resources Inc. to entice customers into home energy audits resulted in $400 to charity.

For every Connecticut Light & Power customer who had a home energy assessment from January to April, Competitive Resources would donate $25 to Operation Fuel, which provides heating assistance to low-income groups.

The Home Energy Assessment Program is run through the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund. Ratepayers pay $75 for energy efficiency experts to come into their home and upgrade light bulbs, seal off leaks and assess what else needs to be done to maximize the building's energy use.
