Cigna reclaims Phil Austin to run its PMI unit

Insurance executive Phil Austin has returned to Cigna Corp., this time heading its overseas individual private medical insurance unit, the Bloomfield health insurer says.

Austin will run Cigna Global Health Options, based in Glasgow, Scotland, which sells health coverage to expatriates and other on-the-go business people and jet-setters, Cigna said Tuesday.

He reports to Michael J. Ross, Cigna International's senior vice president of individual PMI and business development.

Austin previously was with Cigna International from 2002 until he left to work for New York property-casualty insurer Chartis as vice president of its European group accident and health business.

At Cigna International, Austin also held several positions, including Health, Life & Accident Europe sales and marketing director and interim CEO for HL&A Europe.
