The chief executive officer of a South Windsor online ticket exchange company is set to make his first court appearance after being charged with hurling a racial insult at an Oscars party in Hartford, The Associated Press reports.
TicketNetwork Inc. CEO Donald Vaccaro is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Hartford Superior Court. He's charged with a hate crime, threatening, breach of peace and other crimes.
Police say the 49-year-old Glastonbury resident allegedly grabbed a woman at the Oscars party and insulted a bouncer with a racial comment. Officers arrested him in the early morning hours of Feb. 27.
Vaccaro is taking an indefinite leave of absence from TicketNetwork and has said he will seek counseling and treatment for alcohol abuse. He said in a statement that the incident was "unfortunate" and didn't reflect his values.
