to Work in Connecticut 2012

Welcome to the 2012 edition of Best Places to Work in Connecticut.

The companies highlighted here represent some of the best and brightest in the state. They are successful in business, but they go well beyond financial success striving to create a workplace that is welcoming not only to customers, but to employees and their families as well.

The selection process is certainly rigorous. As the description of the process below details, the selection system measures a wide range of company benefits and takes the pulse of employees with a survey of more than 70 questions.
Those who excel are justly celebrated here having achieved a milestone – plus a nice little bragging point.

For our readers, this special section provides a unique opportunity to see what makes these companies tick, as well as to pick up some tips to put into practice in their own business.

The featured companies represent a dizzying array of industries, including law, travel, financial, media, automotive, technology, manufacturing, staffing and grocery. They range from 20 employees to more than 1,300.

These companies show that in addition to working hard, there is also time for play, celebration, community service and healthy competition. They treat their employees extremely well and create a climate that breeds satisfaction, motivation and longevity. In fact, one employer – Pullman & Comley – boasts a receptionist who has been with the firm for almost 50 years!
