CT artist Best to show in Hartford's 100 Pearl

Hartford artist Matthew Best will display his newest paintings this spring in downtown skyscraper 100 Pearl St.

The Greater Hartford Arts Council, housed in the office tower, will manage "Interface: New Work by Matthew Best'' starting April 2 through June 1, during the first-floor gallery's hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A free public opening reception with the artist will be held April 12 from 5 to 7p.m. in the gallery space.

Best's paintings strive to depict the delicate balance of conflicting internal and external forces on the body using the vocabulary of painting.

Best earned a degree in painting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and teaches at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich.
