CT's Zygo collects $5M+ in optics orders

Middlefield's Zygo Corp. in the past week has collected a pair of multi-million-dollar contracts for its expertise making optical components, work to be performed outside Connecticut.

Zygo announced Thursday a more than $3 million order from an unidentified major medical-device maker for high-precision lens assembles.

Zygo's Electro-Optics group will make the components at plants in Tucson, Ariz., and Costa Mesa, Calif.

One week earlier, Zygo landed a more than $2 million order for extreme ultraviolet optics used to develop advanced lithography processes for microchips with sub-nanometer circuit pathways.

Zygo also didn't name the customer, but said it is associated with the CSNE/Sematech consortium Micro Exposure Tool (MET-5) program.

That work will be done at Zygo's operation in Richmond, Calif.
