Bozrah lands Norwich's Collins & Jewell

Collins & Jewell Co., the Norwich manufacturer that Mayor Peter Nystrom had hoped to entice into moving and expanding in the Shipping Street industrial district with $5 million in public infrastructure improvements will be moving to Bozrah, TheDay.com reports.

Collins & Jewell, which moved into a 19,000-square-foot building in the then-fledgling Norwich business park in 1970, in March received approval from the Bozrah Planning and Zoning Commission to build a 30,000-square-foot manufacturing plant on Rachel Drive.

Company partner Chris Jewell declined to comment on the plans this week.

Nystrom said he has known about the company's need to expand for more than a year and had hoped to keep the company with its 50 skilled employees in the city.

The company does turnkey moving and installation of industrial equipment.
