Danbury ATMI's 1Q net cut more than half

Danbury semiconductor technology maker ATMI Inc. saw first-quarter profit cut more than half due to continued softness in global microchip demand and the cost of restarting one of its business lines in-house.

For three months ended March31, ATMI netted $3.9 million, or 12 cents a fully diluted share, down from $8 millino, or 25 cents a share, netted the same period last year.

First-quarter revenues were $92.6 million vs. $100.7 million last year.
