CT's ForeSite promotes Mark Twain coin via Web

East Hartford IT vendor ForeSite Technologies is donating its services to design and maintain a Web site promoting public awareness of efforts to commemorate Connecticut's favorite literary son, Mark Twain, nee Samuel Clemens, with a U.S.-issued coin.

The Mark Twain Commemorative Coin Act has support from various Twain support organizations, including Hartford's Mark Twain House & Museum; The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum in Hannibal, Mo.; the Center for Mark Twain Studies at Elmira College in New York; and The Mark Twain Papers & Project at the Bancroft Library of the University of California, Berkeley.

All four nonprofits would benefit from the proceeds of the coin to be produced at no cost to taxpayers, authorities say.

The website allows visitors to learn more about the Coin Act to encourage them to contact their state representatives and senators to support the bill.

The bill has already passed in the House of Representatives, but must be passed by the Senate. If passed in the senate it will then go onto the president, who must sign it. If they do, the coin will be minted in 2016.

ForeSite is an information-technology contractor to a variety of companies, including The Hartford Business Journal.
