Pratt biomass burner sold to B.C. timber firm

East Hartford's Pratt & Whitney Co. has sold one of its state-of-the-art biomass heat recovery units to a Canadian timber company.

Pratt & Whitney Power Systems' Turboden division will deliver a clean-burning, 13-megawat unit to West Fraser Timber Co. in British Columbia to run at its Chetwynd Forest Industries plant for making lumber, newsprint and other products from wood.

Price wasn't disclosed Wednesday.
