Balfor spends $1.1M+ to move from Bronx to CT

Former Bronx manufacturer Balfor Industries Inc. paid $1.1 million for an Oxford building to recently relocate its Teflon-coated parts production operation, where it will begin hiring.

Balfor's Somerset Realty Group unit bought a 14,960-square-foot building on about 5 acres at 327 Riggs St. from Century Building Products Inc.

Balfor began in 1955 as a machine shop servicing chemical processing companies. Today, it specializes in the design and manufacture of a wide range of plastic and metal products.

The company says it plans to hire some 25 employees in coming months.

Matthews Commercial Properties LLC was listing broker, while broker Bruce Wettenstein represented Balfor.
