11 CT tech startups to pitch investors Friday

Eleven entrepreneurial teams seeking funds for their tech startups will present their business models to potential investors Friday in New Haven.

Seven are graduates of Connecticut Innovations' new TechStart Fund initiative, a three-month business startup accelerator program. The rest are firms supported under CI's Pre-Seed Fund.

The presentation will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maurice R. Greenberg Conference Center, 391 Prospect St.

The participants are:


Applivate (New Haven) - is the maker of ShugaTrak, a mobile app for teenagers with diabetes and their parents.

eBrevia (Stamford) - is commercializing natural language processing technology developed at Columbia University to significantly reduce the time it takes to review legal contracts.

MeritBooster (New Haven) - is a platform to find and fund youth excellence. It helps youth ages 13-19 rally support and funding for school-related and extracurricular projects while encouraging entrepreneurial thinking.

My Luck Club (New Canaan) - is an e-commerce social website that uses the best elements of crowd sourcing, e-commerce and social media. Individuals (luck seekers) post ads for whatever they are seeking and offer financial rewards to incentivize people (luck makers) to respond.

Red Ox Technologies (New Haven) - designs and commercializes electrochemical processes to turn costly and harmful industrial wastes into valuable products.

Scaled Liquid Systems (New Haven) - is developing liquid cooling solutions for the information technology industry. (Participating in the breakout meetings only/not presenting.)

Seldera (New Haven) - is a startup company out of Yale University specializing in sensor-driven energy efficiency. Seldera has developed a low-cost, scalable wireless sensing architecture to analyze and manage building energy consumption.

Snippet (Hamden) - is an online digital portfolio for visual artists and journalists to help them network with prospective employers.

CI Pre-Seed Fund teams participating:

C8 Sciences (New Haven) - develops and markets neuroscience-based cognition improvement products that have the potential to solve some of the most significant problems in childhood education and in our aging population.

CMDBioscience (New Haven) - is a computational biotechnology company that specializes in the computer-aided analysis, modeling and design of therapeutic peptides.

The Green Life Guides (New Haven) - connects eco-conscious consumers with the information, products and services they need to live a greener life through a series of life-stage and event-based websites.

Grey Wall Software (New Haven) - has developed a web and mobile SaaS solution, VEOCI (Virtual Emergency Operations Center), for enabling effective team collaboration and response during crisis situations and other disruptive events.
