Mansour Afshani, a neurologist, has joined St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center as medical director of the stroke center and director of interventional neuroradiology service. Dr. Afshani received his medical degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. Dr. Afshani worked as assistant professor of neurosurgery at Yazd Medical University for six years and then completed a neurosurgery spine fellowship at Wayne State University in Detroit. He also finished residency training in neurology at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. Dr. Afshani is practicing as a member of St. Francis Medical Group.

Caroline Rochon has joined Hartford Hospital and Hartford Specialists as a transplant surgeon. Her areas of interest include liver and kidney transplantation, kidney living donor surgery, hepatobiliary surgery and vascular access surgery. Dr. Rochon was previously in clinical practice in the Department of Surgery, Division of Transplantation at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center and SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. She served as an assistant professor of surgery in both programs.

Philip C. Picillo has joined Webster Bank of Waterbury as senior vice president, treasury services. Previously, Picillo served as senior vice president at SunTrust Bank and as senior vice president at Sovereign Bank. Picillo started his banking career at Bank of Boston. He is past president of the Treasury Management Association of New England. Webster's treasury services unit integrates cash management sales, product management, treasury sales, and government and institutional banking solutions. Picillo will be based in Hartford.

Dan Breault has been appointed regional director at RE/MAX of New England. Breault most recently served as regional director of RE/MAX of Indiana. His background includes leadership, performance improvement and sales positions with Johnson & Johnson, a nationally-known independent homebuilder, and as a consultant. He is a native of Connecticut. RE/MAX of New England, based in Natick, Mass., has more than 220 real estate offices and nearly 3,000 sales associates throughout the six-state region.

Maureen Kiniry has been appointed vice president of correspondent lending in the residential area by Farmington Bank. Kiniry comes to Farmington Bank from PMI Mortgage Insurance Co., where she served for nearly 20 years, most recently as an area sales manager. She will operate from the bank's corporate headquarters in Farmington.

Susan C. Sheffer has joined the Norcom Mortgage in Avon as vice president of branch expansion, charged with leading Norcom's retail branch expansion down the East Coast. Her background includes key sales management positions at Travelers, Citicorp, Countrywide Financial Corp and IndyMac Bank. She also spent five years as a sales director with GMAC Bank.

Brenda Hanley has joined Prudential Connecticut Realty's Middletown office as a full time realtor. She has worked in the real estate industry for nine years, starting as a personal assistant and transaction coordinator before being licensed as a real estate salesperson in 2006. She previously worked at William Raveis Real Estate.

Samantha Wright joins maurices as store manager in Torrington. The national specialty store targets fashion-conscious customers with a 20-something attitude.
