CORRECTION: New Haven Parking Authority does not oversee the city's curbside meters; the city does. An earlier version incorrectly reported the authority was unveiling new meters.
The New Haven Parking Authority plans a major announcement next Wednesday to tout enhancements in the service and promotion of its more than 9,000 public parking spaces in the Elm City, authorities say.
Authority spokesman Greg Davis, of Mascola Group PR, held his cards close Wednesday and would only say that the quasi-public agency will unveil improvements in customer service, as well as a new image campaign.
The 10 a.m. announcement at the downtown Shubert Theater, 247 College St., will be attended by parking authority Chairman Matt Nemerson and staff, as well as New Haven Mayor John DeStefano Jr.
The authority oversees parking at the Air Rights, Crown Street, Temple Street, Temple Medical, Granite Square, and Union Station garages, and at 19 surface lots.
