COMPANY NAME: Hope 4 Autism, Inc (H4A)
COMPANY'S LOCATION: Hartford
What do you do? I am the Founder and Chair of the nonprofit organization, Hope 4 Autism. At H4A, we have events throughout the year that aim to raise awareness of the disorder. We have implemented programs and provide support services to aid children and families impacted by autism.
What do you want to be doing in 10 years? I want H4A to be established as an industry leader with a full suite of services that increase awareness and aid families affected by autism. I envision Hope 4 Autism being recognized nationwide, implementing and enforcing programs that will continue to support the autistic community.
What is your biggest strength? I would have to say my dedication driven by my personal experience as a mother of a child with the disorder. I am committed because this is more than what I do; it is who I am. Autism is a cause that hits close to home. I am dedicated to Hope 4 Autism because the disorder changed my life and has shaped the woman I am today.
Where do you go for new ideas? I don't really go looking; they come to me naturally. No matter where I am, a simple occurrence can trigger an idea that becomes the next best thing.
What is the best advice you received? I was advised to use my story to make history. This, by far, has been the best advice I've been given. I cannot fabricate the realness of my experience as a mom struggling with the impacts to all aspects of life caring for a child with autism. My ability to be honest and open with my situation has provided me with relief, happiness and positive recognition.
What service or charitable cause has your attention? The complex world of autism! I have become one with the cause. I intend to continue providing services that are necessary for families and children to cope with autism and being the cause champion, raising awareness of the disorder.
