40 Under Forty 2013 - About the judges

Eileen Candels – Vice President and District Manager for Hartford, Kelly Services

Candels is vice president and district manager for Hartford for Kelly Services, the workforce solutions company. She began with Kelly as a recruiter over 25 years ago, then moved into positions in business development and management.
Candels has been responsible for leading the Greater Hartford Market since 1991, and has developed many corporate and regional partnerships. She has led the growth of Kelly Educational Staffing, from a small partnership with Bloomfield to today working with more than 50 school districts across the state.
She is a past Business Advisory Council member for AI Prince Tech School, and was recently appointed to the Tunxis Community College's Workforce Development Board. She is a member of HRACC, APICS, and CBIA and CURE. She has served on boards of the Farmington Chamber of Commerce, Business Network Group, and the Seniors Job Bank, and led Kelly fundraising teams for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and March of Dimes. She was a member of the 40 Under Forty class of 2000.

Ted Carroll – President, Leadership Greater Hartford

Ted Carroll is president of Leadership Greater Hartford, a non-profit community leadership training group for people in business, government and non-profit organizations. Leadership Greater Hartford is one of the oldest, largest, most diverse community leadership organizations in the country and has been recognized often for its innovation and community impact.
During Ted's 27-year tenure as president, Leadership Greater Hartford has initiated multiple programs for people of all ages, including leadership training and civic involvement programs for young professionals. Ted has also served in a number of volunteer leadership roles, including with the Hartford Board of Education (1989 to 1997) and on the Board of the Community Leadership Association (1997 – 2006).
Currently, he serves as the vice moderator of the Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford. In 2011, the Hartford Business Journal presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Ted is a 35-year resident of Hartford where he lives with his wife Jane.

Jenny Comerford – Director of strategy, The Hartford's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) organization

Jenny Comerford is a 2012 40 Under Forty winner who currently serves as a director of strategy in The Hartford's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) organization. She also manages the company's Risk Leadership Development Program, a rotational program designed for high potential recent graduates. Over the past five years, she has held various roles of increasing responsibility across the company's ERM and investment groups.
Jenny graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor of arts in music and was a recipient of the school's prestigious Nutmeg Scholarship. She received her MBA in 2012 from the University of Hartford.
In her spare time, Jenny serves as a member of the board of directors of Operation Fuel, a statewide nonprofit organization committed to providing emergency energy assistance for residents in need. She also volunteers with the United Way, Foodshare, Junior Achievement, and Hartford Marathon foundation.
