Opel Technologies, which has operations in Storrs, said it's changed its name to Poet Technologies.
Poet is the name of its platform used to fabricate integrated circuit devices. The Ontario-based company said the change better reflects its business and helps highlight its platform.
The company's stock symbols on the TSX Venture Exchange and the OTCQX will be PTK and POETF, respectively.
Poet stands for Planar Opto Electronic Technology. The platform uses gallium arsenide to combine electronic and optical elements on a single integrated circuit, intended to allow for the manufacture of faster and more energy-efficient microchips, according to Poet.
The company is also launching a new website, poet-technologies.com, on Friday.
