Tunxis Community College's $12.6M classroom wing bows

Tunxis Community College recently opened its $12.6 million classroom building extension at its Farmington campus.

The project took 20 months to complete and adds 56,000 square feet and provides 20 extra classrooms. It is a certified LEED (Leadership, Energy, Environmental Design) green building.

Among its green features is a 4,500 gallon storage tank for harvesting rainwater to service restrooms; motion sensor lighting; building products made of recycled materials; and a design that exploits natural light.

The architect is Tecton Architects of Hartford. W.J. Mountford of South Windsor was general contractor.

Turtle & Hughes' Hamden lease

Turtle & Hughes Integrated Supply leased 5,500 square feet on the fifth floor of Hamden Center II office tower, ar 2321 Whitney Ave.

Press/Cuozzo Realtors was the sole broker.

Turtle & Hughes Integrated Supply is a unit of Turtle & Hughes Inc. of Linden, N.J., engaged in electrical and industrial supply, and datacomm systems, among other businesses.

$1.3M New Milford refi

The 11,108-square-foot New Milford home of Rite Aid Pharmacy recently got $1.27 million in refinancing.

Rhode Island lender Washington Trust did the refinancing for landlord New Milford Main Investment LLC of the property at 173 Danbury Road.

The building is currently leased entirely to Rite Aid.

Press/Cuozzo inks leases

New Haven broker Press/Cuozzo Commercial Services handled several recent commercial leases.

At 59 Elm St., Press/Cuozzo helped client ad agency O'Donnell Co. sign a five-year lease, plus options, for 4,000 square feet.

Landlord 59 Elm Street Partners was represented by CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield.

In Wallingford, All-Star Driver LLC leased 1,500 square feet at Yale Shopping Plaza, 950 Yale Ave. Press/Cuozzo represented landlord 950 Yale Avenue LLC.

Area law firm, church leases

Broder Commercial Real Estate recently brokered a series of Connecticut office, church and retail leases.

In Hartford, attorney Michelle A. Arace leased 450 square feet for her eponymous law offices at 641 Farmington Ave. 641 Real Estate LLC is landlord.

In Glastonbury, Higher Ground Ministries signed for 2,500 square feet for its worship services and offices at 107 Oakwood Drive with landlord Rockstone Corp. Inc.

In New London, Broder represented landlord Cedar Grove Realty LLC in its lease of 10,750 square feet for a Dollar General store at 436 Broad St. Sullivan Hayes represented Dollar General.

Branford social-worker space

Licensed clinical social worker Tracy E. Mitchell leased 400 square feet in Branford for her office at 2415 Boston Post Road.

The Geenty Group, Realtors, was the agent for landlord Mariner Properties LLC. Century 21 All Points Realty was the tenant's agent.
