Pratt and its union workers will not talk to the media about contract negotiations until after Dec. 8.

East Hartford manufacturer Pratt & Whitney and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers instituted a media blackout on Thursday until the sides resolve the new union contract.

The current contract covering 2,800 Pratt employees in Connecticut will expire at midnight on Dec. 8. Negotiations will continue over the next several weeks, ending with a contract vote on Dec. 8.

The two sides jointly agreed to issue no statements to the news media about discussions at the bargaining table. The first public information will be released after the conclusion of the negotiations.

Pratt is a subsidiary of Hartford conglomerate United Technologies Corp.
