Canton company acquires device maker

Canton medical device maker Kelyniam Global said it has acquired Med-Ally LLC, which makes an implantable device to treat pain, sleep apnea and other conditions.

Med-Ally, incorporated in Somers in 2012, is run by principals John Mulvihill and Raja Hitti.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Kelyniam makes cranial and facial implants. Med-Ally's technology employs a technique called neuromodulation, which involves using electricity to treat pain and other conditions. The company pitches the technology as an alternative to addictive opiates.

Kelyniam said Med-Ally has agreements with multiple early-stage companies to deliver a device to treat therapeutic indications not currently available.
